A NEW BRAND. A BIGGER VISION.

UNCINE (noun, pronounced un-seen)

A fusion of “unseen” and “cine” (cinema), UNCINE names a bigger vision to bring visibility to hidden narratives, amplify underground youth storytelling culture, and showcase new perspectives and lived experiences of the next generation.

ABOUT

Our Mission:

We seek to close the representation gap of stories in media by cultivating the next generation of storytellers through production, education, research, and social impact.

Our History:

In 2021 Dr. Jimmeka Anderson created Black Girls Film Camp as a response to the underrepresentation of Black girls in film and media. What began as a single program quickly grew into a national filmmaking incubator, supporting hundreds of young creatives and producing over 50 original films to date that center the diverse experiences of young girls. The program has built a powerful ecosystem that connects participants with filmmakers, scholars, and industry leaders while positioning storytelling as a tool for advocacy and social change.

As the organization expanded, its vision evolved beyond a single program, leading to the launch of UNCINE, a broader cinematic ecosystem designed to amplify unseen voices and create sustainable pathways in storytelling, research, and policy. While the camp remains the flagship program, UNCINE represents the next chapter of growth, encompassing scholarships, research initiatives, and expanded partnerships.
